“Simulation and Simulacra” @ AroundSpace Gallery

This group show, featuring works from Rongjun Dou, Sen Lin and Qinghua Xiang, is focused on the ways in which these artists explore and interpret their environment – both the natural kind, as well as the social construct. For example, Rongjun Dou's complex portraits bring out the personality of the protagonists in a complex social environment.

“Simulation and Simulacra” is on show until 22 June at AroundSpace Gallery, 33 Sichuan Lu, near Yan’an Dong Lu. Tel: 138 0174 3061. Web: www.aroundspace.org

“Pagoda” @ OFOTO Gallery

A pioneer of Shanghai’s photographic galleries, OFOTO has long been a champion of up-and-coming Chinese photographers, but its latest group show has more of an international flavour. Featuring artists including Cao Yingbin, Chen Zanyun, Luo Yongjin and Christopher Taylor, the subject of the show, is, unsurprisingly, pagodas. Photographed on hilltops and serenely nestled in forests, as well as those located in less obvious settings.

“Pagoda” is on show until 27 June at OFOTO Gallery, 2F, Building 13, 50 Moganshan Lu, near Xi Suzhou Lu.
