dining: Get Your Grill On
Whether grilling means hamburgers and hot dogs or a filet mignon to you and yours, don’t let summer escape without at least one barbecue to reminisce about in the depths of winter.
Finding the Perfect Grill
Shopping for the right grill can be quite the task. For the widest selection at a brick and mortar, head to B&Q. Amateur cooks should opt for the no-name stainless steel charcoal grill (RMB 149), but the more serious burger flippers among us can go big. The H-Shine W Heavy Duty Gas Barbecue will run you RMB 3,000.
Carrefour’s selection changes from store to store, but you can count on the picnic-perfect Sunline Portable Charcoal Grill (RMB 249). Also good for parties is the Short Folding BBQ Stove (RMB 298) with its simple grilling space and room for smoking meats underneath.
At Pines, the Sunline Heavy-Duty Gas Grill (RMB 3,888) provides a lot of counter space and also comes with a list of places that deliver gas to your home for the grill. They also have the Masterbuilt Stand-Up Electric Grill (RMB 1,890), an environmental alternative to gas or charcoal.
If you’re more interested in e-shopping, try Renaud Living. Formerly known as Barbecue King, the dedicated website was the brainchild of a few expat barbecue enthusiasts. They offer serious grills at reasonable prices, from portable gas to permanent charcoal options – not to mention all the accessories you could ever need.
