Girl Scouts Gather For “World Thinking Day”

The annual celebration for Girl Scouts was hosted by Concordia International School on 19 February. Members of troops around Shanghai gathered to take part in an event designed to “empower girls to change our world”. Shanghai Roots & Shoots joined the Girl Scouts to raise awareness about desertification and climate change through the Million Tree Project (MTP).

Concordia Students Dance For Chinese New Year

Concordia students got in the spirit of the season, volunteering to perform the traditional New Year’s dragon and lion dances. The 15 brave students spent the past month practising the dances in their regularly scheduled physical education classes. The school purchased an authentic set of dragon and lion dance costumes and props so the event can be an annual one.

SAS Students Experience Space 

Shanghai American School students met astronaut Neil Armstrong during a visit to the Davidson Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. A group of high school students spent the CNY break learning about the universe, rockets, G-force, heat shields, low gravity environments, piloting a space shuttle, working underwater and teamwork on missions.

SCIS Celebrates CNY

On 28 January, Shanghai Community International School students and teachers dressed in lucky red and traditional costumes to greet the Year of the Rabbit. The festivities included Chinese drum, dragon and lion dances and Chinese Yo-Yo and Kungfu shows.

Wear Red Day at DUCKS

Red was truly the colour of DUCKS on 14 February this year as children and staff dressed in burgundy, scarlet and crimson to raise money for Heart to Heart on Valentine’s Day. The children and their parents were extremely generous with their donations, and all total the school raised RMB 11,253. The money will be used to provide a life-saving heart operation for a Chinese child.
