THE FIRST CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY AT SHANGHAI MARRIOTT HOTEL PUDONG EAST

SHANGHAI, CHINA – 1st December 2013 – Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East kicked off Christmas season with its first tree lighting ceremony from 4:30pm to 5:30pm on 1st December 2013. It was a historical moment for the hotel with entertainments, joyful carols and blessings.

The event began with Christmas carol performed by the children from Dulwich College Shanghai. Guests gathered in front of the Christmas tree on 1st floor and were welcomed by Mr. James Macadie, General Manager of Shanghai Marriott Hotel Pudong East. When the lightings started to twinkle, the hotel’s festive ambiance has even attracted many pedestrians. Later, guests were enjoying themselves with canapés while Christmas carols fill the air. Children were delivered Christmas cookies by a gracious Santa Claus.

In keeping with the spirit of Christmas and Marriott’s “Spirit to Serve”, the hotel has cooperated with Heart to Heart Shanghai by selling teddy bears each at RMB 250 net from 1st to 31st December. The fund will directly go to Heart to Heart Shanghai and reach out to more children in need.

Grand Mercure Shanghai Hongqiao have recently awarded Mrs Dong a Samsung Galaxy S4 mobile phone as part of the Accor Le Club campaign, “Discover Hong Kong”. The campaign, which was ran from 20 May 2013 to 30 June 2013, was awarded to the guests of any Accor hotels in Hong Kong. Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel Shanghai has recently appointed Alice Mafaity as the new Executive Assistant Manager and Tobias Pfister as the new Executive Chef. Alice Mafaity, a French national, brings with her over 14 years of hospitality experience, having recently worked at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. Tobias Pfister, originally from Germany, brings with him over 18 years experience having worked all over the world including the world’s most luxurious hotel, Burj Arab, in Dubai.
