Metro Line 7 Opens

After four years of construction, Shanghai's metro Line 7 finally opened to passengers on Saturday 5 December. Also called the "Expo Line", the south-to-north artery services 28 stations and connects the Shanghai Expo site with the downtown area.

We took a ride on Line 7 from Zhenping Lu station this weekend -- only to find out that escalators were still being installed (but that didn't hinder this little boy wanting to try them out).

Although it only just opened, Line 7 was already being put to good use by Shanghaiers, with half-filled subway trains on Sunday morning.

Line 7's stations and platforms are in typical Shanghai metro form, with orange as its signature colour, as can be seen at this stop at Jing'an Temple.

Line 7 is Orange?

What better colour for the Expo line than the international colour of dirty, mafan construction.
