POP Bar

What: The new rooftop bar at Three On The Bund
Where: Three On The Bund, 7/F, 17 Guangdong Lu, near Zhongshan Dong Yi Lu. Tel: 6321 0909. Web: www.threeonthebund.com
Why: For retro-chic, tropical cocktails and uninterrupted views of the Lujiazui skyline

POP Bar, along with its sister restaurant, POP American Brasserie, is the reimagining of Three On The Bund’s premium top floor space. This year, longstanding, classic, veteran New Heights was bid a fond farewell to make way for a venue with a bit more oomph and pizazz. Welcome, POP. In order to make the most out of the large venue, rather than dedicating the entire floor plan to one venture, renovations split the POP concept into different parts, for now, that is the restaurant and the rooftop bar.

The rooftop bar officially opened its doors in June and, like its sister venue, takes its inspiration from retro-American scenes. However, whereas the brasserie takes its cue from New York, the bar has Miami as its muse; think coastlines and Cadillacs with flamingos and crocodiles. Fun artwork and cartoon frescos complement the design of the bar, giving off a fun and laidback atmosphere. The drinks and snacks served at the bar also reflect the multicultural background of Miami’s Latin, Hispanic, Carribean and WASP communities.

The interior bar extends out onto the large terrace area, which looks directly out to the iconic Lujiazui skyline, and the elegant new bar is already attracting a glamorous crowd from around town. Miami beach vibes combined with Shanghai city living never looked so good.
POP Bar is the perfect place to cool off with a tropical, fruity drink in the heat of summer. Try their Ocean Breeze cocktail (RMB 88), a mix of Malibu, Blue Curacao, White Cacao, lime juice and ginger ale, as a refreshing way to kick off your summer holidays at this funky, retro bar.
