MICE Supplement: Themed Teambuilding

By David Simpson

Teambuilding activities are a great way for your staff to get to know each other better, improve team communication and boost staff morale, but too often they can be tedious. Don’t let these opportunities go to waste; jazz up your teambuilding activities so everyone has a great time, and the effects on the office will be long-lasting.

BeatsWork

Starting in small groups with a professional percussionist, BeatsWork teaches the participants the basics of samba beats and breaks. Using a variety of rhythm-based warm-up exercises, they soon move onto real instruments with each group learning different instruments and rhythms. As confidence and ability grows, the groups are brought together in preparation for a stunning and pulsating musical finale.

BeatsWork is a low carbon emission and completely reusable musical extravaganza program. Your entire organization will transform into a giant samba rhythm band where the pounding of music is energising, engaging and inspiring.

CSR Encounter

An amazing race style adventure hunt with a Corporate Social Responsibility twist, the CSR Encounter is a learning journey rather than a destination. Instead of teams searching for clues and artefacts, they are instead challenged to complete tasks to benefit the local community and the environment. The challenges are intended to intrigue participants into becoming members of a global community and to instil a desire to actively help improve society. Example challenges include donation of non-perishable goods to food shelters, exploring environmental centres and parks, clearing up public areas, calculating carbon footprints and establishing sustainable environmentally friendly actions that can be implemented in daily work activities.

Noodle Nation

Noodle Nation is a new team business simulation that requires all participants to network and plan together to deliver 12 different Chinese noodle dishes with accompanying cut-throat marketing campaigns. Running on a simulation of a business week from Monday to Friday, all teams must network, plan and execute to deliver their key ingredient to those countries who need it and simultaneously source the ingredients they need for their dish to be completed. This high level networking breaks down the silo mentality, while the marketing campaign to sell the dish ensures employee engagement and reinforces company branding.
