Give These Cute Kitties A Second Chance!

Since 2005 Second Chance Animal Aid (SCAA) have rescued and re-homed more than 700 animals. This private, non-profit organisation is not a shelter and depends on volunteers to foster cats, dogs (and the occasional bunny rabbit) in their homes until they can find a forever family. If you are interested in fostering or adoption, their summer crop of critters are interested in meeting you at SCAA's next adoption day.

Scooby and Sandy (pictured) are just two of the adorable animals currently in SCAA foster care. They have been raised by SCAA volunteers since they were only hours old, when a cleaning lady found the tiny kittens (along with their sister Syra, who is also in SCAA foster care) in a plastic bag and handed them to a known cat lover in the compound.

Without the nutrients of their mother's milk, survival was always going to be a tough battle for these little ones, but the dedication of foster parents (who bottle fed the newborns every couple of hours) meant that Scooby and Sandy not only survived, but are now healthy and happy four month old kittens. Animals like Scooby and Sandy that you meet at SCAA's adoption day have to get the all clear from our western-standard vet before being adopted. These two have been treated for mites, fleas, worms and fully vaccinated – so they, along with dozens of other animals currently in SCAA's foster care program, are ready and waiting for a wonderful permanent home come adoption day.

SCAA Adoption Day. 18 September. 11am-2pm. O'Malley's Irish Pub, 42 Taojiang Lu, near Wulumuqi Lu. For more information on SCAA and to check out more of the cute critters available for adoption, visit www.scaashanghai.org
