Hong Kong artist Wilson Shieh plays with paper dolls in his illustrations. In one work he depicts several of Eileen Chang’s characters and two versions of Chang herself, all with similar faces, bodies and postures. They’re differentiated by their various hairdos and outfits. Shieh does the same for movie stars Chow Yun Fat and Maggie Cheung, drawing them in outfits they wore as different characters. By paying close attention to the outfits of authors and actors Shieh tips his hat to the artistry of simply getting dressed in the morning and choosing that day’s self. Until 31 January.
