Midi Electronic Music Festival

It’s that time of year again. Midi Electronic Festival will be making its triumphant return on the 15th, 16th and 17th of May at Taihu Midi Music Park, Suzhou.
Just an hour’s drive away from Shanghai, this electronic music festival, brought to you by the guys over at The Mansion, will include three outdoor stages, six indoor stages, an amusement park and camping facilities! Finally, China is offering us something resembling European music festival standards.
The pioneering Midi organisation began in China 16 years ago, with illegal festivals in the mountains close to Beijing, and this year they are offering festivalgoers 48 hours of non-stop music.

The non-commercial artists due to be gracing the stage at Midi Electronic have been selected from a wide variety of electronic music styles; House, Techno, Drum & Bass, Dubstep, Tech-house, Electro, Minimal, Hip Hop, Trap, Acid Techno, Psytrance, Ambient, Disco – but not commercial EDM.
The theme of the festival this year is “spectrum”, referencing the eclectic range of electronic music genres. So get your colourful glad rags on before exiting your tent.

The international headliners confirmed so far include The Subs, Joris Delacroix, Brandt Brauer Frick, Mumbai Science, Smash TV, Sulumi, Kamara and Lukas. Whereas Chinese-based headliners slated to perform are Duck Fight Goose, Elvis. T, Ozze, Steo le Panda, Electronail and Shanghai International Language University Orchestra, Busy Gang, Dexter, Absorbed, Conrank and Donn Wong.

Get your dose of Chinese-festival goodness at the ‘retro’ amusement park, with rides ranging from an old-school, knock-off Mickey Mouse rollercoaster to a swing carrousel at RMB 10 a go, or visit the “18th Century German Village”, located at the site, for indoor after-parties each evening.

The campsite will open at 2pm on Friday and close at 8pm on Sunday. Entrance is only permitted with a Midi ticket and showers will cost you RMB 10. Tents will be available to rent with more details to follow soon. If you don’t think you have what it takes to camp, 150 bunk beds will be up for grabs between 6am and 6pm (when there are no DJs playing) for RMB 100 per bed, per day.

The ticket price, including camping and amusement park entrance, will be RMB 300 for three days, RMB 200 for two days and RMB 100 for one day, presale. On the door, a three-day ticket will cost RMB 350, for two days the cost is RMB 280 and for one day, RMB 150.
