Glow with the Flow

Part of the Adidas by Stella McCartney fall/winter 2010 collection, this glow-in-the-dark range features a ruched-shoulder jacket (RMB 1,185), drawstring shorts, and lace-up running shoes (RMB 950) all clad in a feisty leopard print McCartney describes as “not so masculine and graphic.” For nocturnal cyclists of all stripes (and spots), the breathable, weather-resistant material has to be a winner, paving the way for popping wheelies rain, hail, shine or night-time.

Genteel Gothic

The man himself may be no longer with us, but the legend lives on. This reworking of the iconic Alexander McQueen cashmere-blend skull-print scarf includes a background in this season's most covetable neutral tone – camel. Peppered with red skulls, this elegantly edgy accent will add a pop of colour to your winter wardrobe.

Price: RMB 2,675. Web: www.alexandermcqueen.com

A Touch of Drama

The perfect accessory to cap off your McQueen scarf-accented outfit has to be this dramatic gold-plated jade ring from Mawi. It seems wearing skulls just gets prettier and prettier. For girls who want to peek over at the dark side, without compromising their femininity.

Price: RMB 2,557. Web: www.mawi.co.uk

Grrrr

In case you’ve been out of the fashion loop there are two key words floating around this autumn 2010 season: leopard and print. It’s everywhere from tights to mini dresses and adorning shoes of all shapes and silhouettes. Get firmly on trend with this leopard print bag from Jimmy Choo, one of the classiest ways to pull off big cat-inspired style.

Price: RMB 16,650. Web: www.jimmychoo.com

What's New Pussycat?

Paul & Joe Beauté are renowned for their gorgeous old-world packaging, but they may have just stepped over the kooky line with these new cat lipsticks. I mean, they are cute, but who would want to smush the poor kitties by using them? Would even the most crazed cat lady leap at the chance to rub faux felines all over her mouth? Hmmm …

Price: RMB 170. Web: www.beautyhabit.com

Mouseketeers

We are playing a bit of cat and mouse with our style picks this month and in our opinion, these Little Marc Mouse Baby Booties come out in front. They are, quite simply, insanely adorable. The fruit of your loins will be the biggest fashionista at play group with these leather, suede and lambs wool lovelies adorning their tootsies. Also available in silver and gold (in case baby is craving something more ‘bling’ in the footwear department).

Price: RMB 440. Web: www.kidsofluxury.com

Best Foot Forward

Roberto Cavalli’s Swarovski crystal-embellished feather sandals are the ultimate in statement footwear – a perfect way to complete a fabulous formal ensemble. The five inch heel might be a little daunting for some, but these shoes weren’t made for walking, they were made for looking sensational.

Price: RMB 9,645. Web: www.robertocavalli.com

Shop Talk: Mind the Gap

The city has been abuzz with international brands pulling out the big guns to make an impression in Shanghai’s retail market of late and none of them are bigger than the icon of American consumerism – Gap.

The brand, known for it’s preppy inclinations, is planning to open four stores in China later this year (sources say November), two in Shanghai and two in Beijing. The Shanghai stores will be located in Nanjing Xi Lu and Huaihai Zhong Lu, where we’re sure they’ll fit right in.

The first four Gap stores will feature a full range of Gap adult, GapKids and babyGap products, so get ready to load up on blue jeans, khakis and all the sweaters you can carry.
