Convenience Store Showdown

Lawson’s Creek

Perhaps the only store of the bunch to have an unofficial, totally unsanctioned and entirely rowdy street party in it’s honour known as Lawson’s Creek, this chain’s cult-like appeal is on the rise, seemingly in a directly inverse direction to James Van Der Beek’s celebrity.

Started in August 2011 by Shanghai resident Emily Eliot, the party advertises plenty of teenage angst and “All you can drink all night long for RMB 3 times the number of Suntory you can drink!”

Eliot explains, “The concept comes from a dedication to fiscally responsible alcoholism and emotionally draining late-90s teen dramas.” The Dawson’s Creek creators must be so proud.

Due to the runaway success of the affordable booze, and zero-margin-on-top business model, three more parties were met with raucous success and a severely depleted booze supply at the Lawsons on Yueyang and Dongping Lu. The next Lawson’s Creek is scheduled for 16 March, but check the website for updates and hilarious Dawson references.
