Find Your Wine Style
Submitted by Carl.Lorimer on Fri, 2010-09-10 14:57The WineSign Experience has finally made it to Chinese shores. Developed in Bordeaux by a team of experts who studied the taste preferences of 3,000 people and created 45 resulting wine profiles, this fun and innovative discovery tool has landed at NAPA Wine Bar & Kitchen. Consisting of an interactive tasting of six wines, participants receive their customised style profile at the end of the session, along with recommendations on grape varietals and wines available to purchase from NAPA's well-stocked cellar.
The hour long experience is fun for novices and aficionados alike. As a group you discuss the bouquet, flavours and colours of three reds and three whites. After sampling each you enter a score into a personal remote; several general taste preference questions are asked as well. At the end, your responses are entered into a top secret algorithm that spits out a personalised wine sign. This reviewer was horrified to find out he fell into the TRENDY/SENSUAL category, but after actually reading the profile found it to be very accurate.
The WineSign is held every Thursday night at 7pm and Sundays at noon. Sessions are RMB 260 per person. Thursday nights include a WineSign and three course set dinner (including personalised wines) promotion for RMB 590. Sunday brunches include free flow food for RMB 248 and selected half-price wines. Also, for groups of eight or larger, the WineSign can be schedule at flexible times throughout the week. Check out NAPA online for their various weekly wine-based promos.
