Why: To party the night away in one of Shanghai’s iconic skyscrapers
Hu Bar was created around the concept of the fictional character Madame Hu, a long time resident whose own family personify the very best of old and new Shanghai. It is always tricky to pull of a “themed” venue, especial in the city’s fickle F&B scene, however, the hotel seems to have pulled off this feet with aplomb.

Straddling three floors, which represent the past, present and future, Hu Bar And Lounge encompasses an exclusive penthouse-inspired event space, a classically styled bar and a modern night club.
Hu’s Penthouse And Atelier, on the 64th floor, reflects the present day, chic, modern apartment where the family are said to live. With a massive emphasis placed on stunning views of the Shanghai skyline, there is also a reception area, living room, dining room, bar and kitchen catering to meetings and events for up to 100 people.

Hu On 65th is a nostalgic bar and lounge, offering the classic comforts of the 20th century, with a focus on fine wines, whiskies and old-fashioned Shanghainese dishes. The live jazz ban and soon-to-be 65 handcrafted whiskey cocktails, offers guests the felling of intimate luxury.
Hu On 66th is the wild child of the family, with modern edginess and a lively atmosphere. The champagne-stacked menu, cutting edge cocktails, international DJ and large dance floor offers a hedonistic view of the modern-day city.
The hotel has high hopes for its vertiginous venue to become the hottest spot in town, offering something for all manner of guests. The story of the figurative Hu family runs throughout the bar and lounge, giving the venue a lot of creative license without making the theme seem too forced. There is a clear distinction made upon entering, this is a destination bar, not a hotel bar, and the standalone concept allows visitors to experience Shanghai throughout the ages in one evening, with the old Shanghai street food being served up on the 65th floor to molecular cocktails on the 66th. As the tallest building in Puxi, the prime position on the top three floors of the five star hotel also offers impressive 360 degree views across the Huangpu River, the modern Pudong skyline, as well as the old streets of shanghai and People Square on the opposite side.
The trick now is for the venue to stay relevant in the city’s fast moving night scene, however, with a nostalgic whiskey bar targeting discerning enthusiasts and the modern nightclub with pumping music and a glamorous clientele, we believe that the classic and contemporary luxury will keep Hu Bar And Lounge flying high.
